Why is the right diet so important?

The types of food we eat and our eating behaviour is predominantly habitual. By this I mean that we often eat the same types of food at the same time and in the same way because it is learnt behaviour. Habits, particularly unhealthy ones, can be easy to form and difficult to break. 


But nutrition is so key to our internal health, as well as our aesthetic look, that we shouldn't just stick to the same old habits if they aren't working for us. 


In modern society the availability of food is something we have access to 24/7. Be it at home, 24 hour takeaways and supermarkets. Because of this availability, our diet has moved from a culture of having three meals a day to possibly eating four meals a day and snacking in between. In other words it amounts to constantly eating. We now find it hard to distinguish between true hunger and just eating for the sake of it. Are you eating because you need to, or because it is a habit to do so?


It's hard to know how to balance proteins, fats, carbs, vitamins and minerals, and how to understand what to eat to achieve your goals, as well as staying healthy.
